5 Tips for an Organized Holiday Season in 2020
The 2020 holiday season will be much different than previous years. Travel will be down, online shopping will be up, and very few, if any of us, will have an in-person holiday party to go to. So how do you handle the holiday season this year?
The first tip is get a gift list together just as you would any other year. Whether you are doing all online shopping, in store or a combination of both, you always need a list to avoid spending hours on the internet or in the stores getting nothing accomplished.
The second tip is to buy all those gifts that need to be mailed first. Online shopping is going to be huge this year, so getting those gifts and sending them will be slower this year due to the volume. Buy them, wrap them and send them as soon as possible. The stress about them arriving on time will be much greater the longer you wait.
The next tip is to schedule time for everything. The more you spread it out on your calendar, the better you will feel and easier it will be. Schedule time for shopping online and in store, gift wrapping, baking and decorating. Many of us are working from home, so the stress is already there.
The fourth tip is to break down decorating. Start with outside, move inside and tree. Break any of these down into sections such as floors, lights, tables, ornaments. Do not feel the need to do everything on one day. Organize your decorating time.
The last tip is to bake as you can. Many cookies can be frozen, so make those first. Again, break some baking into sessions. Make the dough, roll and bake, then frost and decorate all on different days. Since there will be less visiting this year, consider baking and delivering cookies to those you would have seen over the holidays.
