Time Management Tips For Working From Home
As more companies continue to have employees work from home, time management becomes even more important. To increase your productivity and to keep sane, time management is the key.
The first tip is to designate your work hours and space. Try to be as consistent with your time as if you are actually going into the office. If you were normally at the office by 8 a.m. then that should be when you start. This includes your time for lunch. If you normally take and hour pre-covid, then that is what you should take now. Go out and pick up lunch or go out to lunch if possible. Even consider taking your lunch outside to your patio just so you are getting away from your office. This will give you better perspective and allow your mind to think of something other then work.
Second tip is to schedule time for your email and returning calls. Schedule 2 times a day to complete this task. Turn off the notifications on your computer so you are not distracted when you are on zoom calls or working on a project. If need be, close down your email while working on a project so you solely concentrate on the task at hand. If you leave it open or look every time you receive a notification, that will be all you get completed that day.
The third tip is to turn off the notifications on your phone as well. If you are constantly looking at Twitter, Instagram, or any other social media outlet updates, your day will go by with very little accomplished. Know that if there is truly an emergency, you will know. You can set your phone up to only notify you if specific persons text you. Try that will spouses, parents and kids so you are at ease when working.
Time management during these times is more important then ever before since many are working from home and it is new to many of them with no designated end in sight. Manage your time to be more productive and accomplish your goals.
