Declutter One Space at a Time- Pantry
So many pantries are overflowing due to their size and to lack of organization. It is time to get that pantry organized. Now that many students will be going back to some sort of in person school, you can take the time to get it organized and ready for lunches and then summer.
The first step is to remove all the items out of the pantry paying close attention to expiration dates and items in the back that are open and possibly stale. Get rid of any item that no one like or eats any longer as they are just taking up space and at some point, will expire.
The top shelf should be left for the extras or possibly cookware used only once or twice a year. Group like things together such as breakfast, snacks, lunch items, and sweets.
If you have kids who are getting snacks out themselves or you would like them to do so, buying those items that are individual packaged is the best solution. The box or bag can be opened, and the individual packages tossed into an open bin, so they are grab and go. No more empty boxes sitting in the pantry or multiple opened boxes.
For easy access to canned food, use a turntable. It makes it so easy to prevent items from getting stuck in the back of the pantry. Make sure you measure the space so you can buy the correct size and look for those with the slip proof bottoms so your cans do not go flying. Many turntables now have a raised side so they prevent the items from tipping over.
Pasta packages can be placed in a bin also so you can just pull the bin out for easy use. Make sure that if you have the envelope type seasonings, you buy a bin for those too, so they are not lost forever in the back. Really anything can be placed in a bin with a handle so that it is easy to access and keep the pantry organized and looking nice.
